ABOUT OUR CONGREGATE LUNCH
We offer two Congregate meal site locations; our main location is at the Angelina County Senior Center located in Lufkin with our sister site being in Huntington at the Huntington Housing Authority; located at 212 E. Walnut Street. To be eligible for these services you must be at least 60 years of age or older, must live within Angelina County and be able to attend the Center at one of the locations mentioned. These meals are provided at no cost, but a small donation is accepted and appreciated. The Deep East Texas Council of Governments, (DETCOG) is the organization that we partner with to bring these meals, but the service does require registration and certain criteria to be eligible.
The Congregate meal program offers more than just a hearty meal; it provides seniors with a venue for social interactions which is vital to the mental and emotional well-being of our valued senior citizens. Amid the delicious and nutritious meals, seniors can enjoy a sense of camaraderie, shared stories, and laughter all while fostering a sense of community and connection among our cherished senior citizens.
